Vitaliy dreams of becoming a missionary. He is one of the top students in his class. His face is serious, but his eyes are bright. He’s well on his way to a successful future
But it wasn’t always this way.
Vitaliy is sixteen-years-old. He is from a Roma family in Ukraine, where he faces social stigma and widespread poverty. Unlike most of his community, Vitaliy’s parents knew the importance of their son getting an education. They just did not have the finances to make it possible. They struggled to make ends meet and keep food on the table. They knew their son’s potential was being stunted.
With the help of Orphan’s Promise, Vitaliy was placed in a professional school in Mukachevo. The first year was difficult for him and he was scared his grades would not be good enough to continue. But with a lot of diligence, hard work, and one-on-one tutoring he received thanks to support from Orphan’s Promise, Vitaliy has made incredible progress.
Now he is one of the best students in his class. All his teachers speak highly of him and his passion for learning earned him a coveted place in the mathematics competition at his school. His parents are so excited for their son and grateful he has the opportunity to learn.
With the tools and training Vitaliy now has access to, he’ll be able to provide for a family of his own one day and build a life beyond what his parents were able to give him. Education is the key to unlocking a better future for kids like Vitaliy.
His faith is also important to him. Last month he was baptized, taking him one step closer to his dream of becoming a missionary and bringing people to Christ. He is deeply committed to studying the Bible and has a big heart for helping the elderly. His parents support his faith and our team on the ground in Ukraine asks for your prayers for Vitaliy and his family.
If you are part of the Orphan’s Promise family, thank you so much for making a transformation like this possible for vulnerable kids like Vitaliy.
