Anti-Sex Trafficking

There is nothing that is quite as disturbing to the soul as when male and female children are trafficked for sexual exploitation. Thankfully, there are many ministries and organizations working worldwide to fight this horrific tsunami of degradation.

Orphan's Promise has dedicated massive efforts and funding to work in conjunction with our ministry partners to help using the following principles:

End of Year Report For OP

Outreach Summary / December 2013 Dear Friends and Family of Orphan's Promise. We wanted to share some of the highlights in this past year with you. I'm amazed at what God has done with a handful of people and the generosity of folks like you! Formed in 2005, Orphan’s Promise has worked in 61 countries and has ongoing work in 50 countries.  We serve over 100,000 children annually.

2013 Highlights

Let's Do More In 2-0-1-4!

I greatly enjoy movies!  Especially the inspirational genre, there is something captivating about a true story that warms the heart or provokes further thought about amazing situations.  Whether it is an exciting sports movie or some other uplifting film, there are stories that share about people who have been motivated to achieve a personal dream, or somehow make a difference when no one thought it mattered or was possible!  December seems to have more positive movies on television for families, but they usually reflect the holidays rather than the need to inspire.

Honoring A Friend

I’m always impressed at the creative ways people can come up with for raising money to help those less fortunate.  Our Office Manager, Stacy had a best friend who passed from this life into heaven before her time. Jennifer Sortino was a teacher, wife and loving mother to three children. It had always been her dream to go to Africa, wrap her arms around the children there, and instill in them the love of reading books. Unfortunately, her dream was cancelled by breast cancer before it could become a reality.

Grace For Ghana

Orphan's Promise has been enabling students in Ghana to attend school. Several have attended the University and others are in the lower grades. All are so grateful to OP for helping them to achieve their hard won goals of getting an education.

Twenty-One (21) students who are living in communities close enough to Accra were invited to collect their fees personally from the CBN Ghana office.  They submitted receipts of the payments from their respective schools to the office.

Hearing The Cry of The Poor

“Whoso stoppeth his ears at the cry of the poor, he also shall cry himself, but shall not be heard.”  Proverbs (21:13)

When you look into the eyes of a hungry or frightened child, you are looking into the eyes of Jesus crying out to you for help. He cries out to you in the orphaned, abandoned and at risk children, some of the most vulnerable children in the world.

A New Home, A New Future

I am blessed to be one of the newer additions to the Orphan’s Promise Family, and will be visiting and monitoring our various projects. Previously, I have traveled to Latin America as well as Asia in previous work, but have always had a desire to see Africa. For me, Nigeria was an introduction to the reality and truth of that country's deep need. It is different to see poverty on TV, or the internet and to experience it in person. The vivid images that were seen will never be forgotten and will forever be impressed upon my heart.

Another Girl Again

I had to laugh when I received this little piece of cultural information from the Krause's who live and teach in an orphanage we support in Zambia:

Ronda – "In the Zambian Culture...  and Botswana as well, when a child is born and is the same sex as the last several children in the family they are named accordingly. In Botswana, a boy might be given the name Hosimonihopi....meaning "another boy again". We know a girl in Macha whose name is Nchumuna meaning 'another girl again".
