Through The Viewfinder: A First-Person Account of Africa, Day 13

In Africa, water is everything…

Our team visited our Masai village school a few days ago.  We were welcomed with the usual Masai tribal dances… men jumping like warriors, women dancing, everyone decked out in their bright colors and beaded jewelry. Normally they perform this ritual for tourists but today they were welcoming the Orphan’s Promise team.

Through The Viewfinder: A First-Person Account of Africa, Day 10

Who knew that something as simple as soap could rescue a single mom and her 3 children from the absolute poverty of a Kenyan slum? Soap.

Ann was a desperate single mom who pretended to be crippled in order to beg money from tourists. She would sit on the sidewalks of a busy street and send her three small children to separate corners to beg as well.

Through The Viewfinder: A First-Person Account of Africa, Day 6

The Village of Hope is about 90 minutes away from where we're staying, so on the drive back and forth each day, we've had a lot of time to chat and 'debrief' from the day's activities. I’d like to tell you that we have some deep theological discussions during this time, but that’s just not true.

More often than not the deep, philosophical question is simply, “How on earth do they do that?”

The HOPE Project - Giving A Voice To The Voiceless

For I know the plans I have for you," declares the LORD, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.

-Jeremiah 29:11

Orphan’s Promise recently embarked on a new God-adventure to bring hope to a seemingly forgotten people in the war-torn nation of Ukraine. Some of the most vulnerable children on earth can be found in the villages of the Roma people, a gypsy population mired in a vicious cycle of poverty, illiteracy, and public shame.

Orphan's Promise August Ministry Update

Dear Friends of Orphan’s Promise,
Can you believe we’re more than halfway through 2015? God has been so good to Orphan’s Promise and I see His hand at work in over 100 projects we support all over the world. While I could go on and on about each one, I’d like to tell you about an exciting new project that we’re partnering with in Africa that’s not only focused on the immediate needs of children today, but is building a firm foundation for the future.

Orphan's Promise April Ministry Update

Dear Friends of Orphan’s Promise, The flowers are in full bloom here in Virginia, so that must mean that spring is finally here! Where does the time go? It’s always a privilege for me to pause, reflect, and share with you about the work that Orphan’s Promise is doing around the world. I am truly humbled and amazed that God has opened the door for us to be working in over 60 countries this year!

Strengthening Families - A glimpse into the Father's heart

Psalm 68:5-6 gives me a glimpse into the caring heart of our loving Heavenly Father - “A father to the fatherless, a defender of widows, is God in his holy dwelling. God sets the lonely in families.” I have had the blessing of growing up in a warm loving family. I believe God intended this for all children, but I also realize this is not the case for many.
